H&M Malaysia has filed a police report following Twitter users’ concerns that footage from hidden cameras in fitting rooms at a Kuala Lumpur store was being sold online.
The videos are allegedly for sale online, with sellers claiming to have recordings of couples and individuals in the fitting rooms.
On Jan. 8, user @meleisgw raised the issue for the first time, but she has since deleted her tweet.
She later updated her post, claiming that an alleged victim recognised herself in one of the videos. The tweet has since been deleted but this is what it said:
“One of the victims in the video has reached out to me, she confirmed that the incident happened at H&M Avenue K last October 2022, she bought a shirt and there is a receipt and there is a picture of her wearing the same shirt in the video.”
The victim claimed that the recording was made in October last year.
“The safety of our customers is of the utmost importance to us. A police report has been made and investigations are currently ongoing.
“We have conducted an inspection of all fitting rooms and are working to ensure that there are no security breaches that will compromise the privacy of our customers,” the company said in a statement to LifestyleTech.
In another post, a user claimed that she spotted her friend in one of the videos.
According to @meleisgw, she received a DM saying that a police report has been filed on the matter.
