A man allegedly leapt out of a fifth floor hospital window to his death yesterday after learning he was HIV positive.
Poo Hock Kee, 47, was warded several days ago at Kuala Lumpur Hospital for a case of diarrhoea.
At 8.15am yesterday, he was informed by hospital staff that a blood test showed he was infected with HIV.
Poo, who allegedly did not show any signs of depression or alarm over the news, then asked to go to the restroom to change his clothes. Hospital staff became worried when he did not reappear after 20 minutes.
When they broke through the restroom door, the found him lying dead on the roof of the first floor below. Apparently, he had climbed out the restroom window on the fifth floor and jumped.
Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Zainuddin Ahmad said the case had been classified as sudden death.
