More than 41,000 people have so far been displaced – and at least five killed – by the worst flood to hit Kuala Lumpur and Selangor in decades, with affected areas including Klang, Shah Alam, and Puchong.

If you’d like to join the numerous Malaysians banding together to lend a helping hand or donate necessities to flood victims, Coconuts has compiled a list of legitimate avenues for you to reach out:

Gurudwara Sahib Petaling Jaya

A Sikh place of worship, Gurudwara Sahib Petaling Jaya, is cooking vegetarian and halal meals for flood victims but is in need of more 4×4 vehicles to transport food to those stranded in areas inaccessible by floods.

You can donate to their cause and follow them on Twitter for further updates. If you need help, contact +60102174556.

MUDA

Muar Member of Parliament Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman’s youth political party, MUDA, has raised RM1 million so far for flood relief efforts. Now, they need volunteers for rescue and cleanup missions. Register to help, here.

Pink Flag

Pink Flag, together with other NGOs like Bulan Sisters and Hunger Hurts Malaysia, is banding together to send menstrual kits and a month’s worth of sanitary supplies to those in need. They are also looking for donations to fund their efforts.

Selangor Library

The Selangor Library in Shah Alam is housing hundreds of displaced flood victims. They need items like towels, slippers, disposable underwear, baby diapers, diaper cream, mineral water, and tissue for those seeking shelter there. If you wish to donate, you can send it to Pustaka Raja Tun Uda, Jln Kelab Golf 13/6, Seksyen 13, 40100 Shah Alam, Selangor

Great Heart Charity

NGO Great Heart Charity is fundraising RM30,000 (US$7,000) to buy flood relief kits for those in need. The organization is accepting donations on its website.

Klang district office

Klang MP Charles Santiago is raising funds to provide food, transport, clothes, and other necessities to those who are stranded in flood-stricken areas.

Yayasan Ikhlas

Kembara Kitchen

Charitable catering organization Kembara Kitchen is in need of food containers, sauces, rice, mattresses, baby milk formula, diapers, biscuits, and bottled water. If you have any of these to donate, please contact +60178835249 (Azren Harun) or send them to Kembara Kitchen, 80-G, Jalan Sungai Burung AA32/AA 40460 Shah Alam, Selangor.
