Hello everyone, meet Lee Chong Wei’s identical ‘twin’

A Universiti Utara Student (UUM) has found herself in the center of attention after a picture she posted on her Facebook page went viral.

That’s because she bears uncanny resemblance to Malaysian badminton hero Lee Chong Wei.

Badminton fans first took notice of Ika Syazwani when she uploaded a photo of herself with the caption “Congratulations my twin! #DLCW” on her Facebook page after the shuttler’s epic win over arch rival Lin Dan in the Olympic Games badminton men’s singles semi-final last Friday.

Her posting was then screencapped and was widely circulated on social media.

Since then, Ika has reportedly received tonnes of friend requests on Facebook, some even coming from complete strangers.

Ika told The Star Online that she got her Lee Chong Wei-like looks from her Chinese grandmother.

“Who knew that people would say I look like Datuk Lee Chong Wei. Maybe its because we have a similar facial structure,” Ika was quoted as saying.

However, this wasn’t the first time that badminton fans took notice of her resemblance to the Olympics silver medalist as her photos once went viral in 2013.

“I always feel like laughing about it because to me, the whole thing is funny. I did not expect it to become viral,” she was further quoted as saying.

Now that she has received nationwide attention, the student hopes to one day rub shoulders and play a match with the world number one shuttler.

“If Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) can arrange for Datuk Lee Chong Wei to meet me, I will be very, very happy.

“If he comes to my university, I will ask him for a friendly game. I am not good, but I hope I can have an easy match against him,” she told the news portal.
