Here’s good news for those going out of town this Chinese New Year weekend.
Heavy vehicles such as lorries and trailers have been barred from entering all highways and Federal roads on 6, 7, 13 and 14 February, reports Berita Harian.
This is in anticipation of massive traffic jams on these roads as people make their way back to their hometowns and return to the cities on those dates.
Director of the Enforcement Division of the Road Transport Department Datuk V Valluvan said the ban is to prevent even worse traffic jams, while protecting the interests of other road users.
However, he said, allowance will be made for heavy vehicles transporting food, garbage, medical supplies and petroleum products meant for gas stations nationwide on those dates.
