Health Ministry to investigate death of DPM’s son-in-law

The Health Ministry said today it would investigate the death of Syed Alman Zain Syed Alwi, 44, who died after receiving treatment at a dental clinic in Bangsar last night.

According to a report by the Malay Mail Online, Minister Dr S. Subramaniam said legal action would be taken if there was malpractice in the death of Syed Alman, who is the son-in-law of Deputy Prime Minister Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

“We’ll investigate what happened. If there’re any irregularities or non-professional conduct or something which is wrong, we have provisions in both the Medical and Dental Act to take appropriate action,” Dr Subramaniam was quoted as saying.

Syed Alman was married to Zahid’s eldest daughter Nurulhidayah, 37.
