The government has banned the import of Manuka Honey after a recall of the product by New Zealand authorities.
According to Health Ministry director-general, Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, the product manufactured by New Zealand’s Evergreen Life Limited was found to possibly contain prohibited substances including dihydroxyacetone and methylglyoxal.
“Even though there is no danger in food safety, consumers who had consumed the product and have doubts about their health can refer to their doctors for medical advice,” Bernama quoted him as saying.
Those of you who have bought the product have been advised not to consume it and to return them to retail stores.
