Haze: 19 areas nationwide registered with unhealthy air pollution scores

As of 5pm yesterday, a total of 19 areas throughout the country clocked in with unhealthy Air Pollution Index (API) readings, as the latest round of haze continues to choke Malaysia. 

The Department of Environment lists Malacca, Negri Sembilan, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Johor as having been affected by unhealthy levels of air pollution. 

Bukit Rambai, Malacca had the highest API reading as of yesterday with a score of 169, followed by Banting, Selangor (168), Malacca city (166), Nilai (161), Port Dickson (150), Putrajaya (156), Seremban (155), Port Klang (155) and Shah Alam (151).

Other areas with unhealthy API readings in peninsula Malaysia are Muar (147), Petaling Jaya (144), Batu Muda in Kuala Lumpur (131), Cheras (129) and Pasir Gudang (105).

In East Malaysia, Samarahan in Sarawak also registered as having unhealthy levels of air pollution with a score of 128, followed by Sri Aman (110), and Sarikei (101).

Air quality with API readings of 0-50 is categorised as good, 51-100 (moderate), 101-200 (unhealthy), 201-300 (very unhealthy) and 301 and above (hazardous).
