Haze: 17 locations throughout Malaysia recorded unhealthy API readings today

Malaysia continues to choke under the regional haze, with 17 locations across the country recording Air Pollution Index (API) readings marking the air in those areas as ‘unhealthy’.

As of 11am today, Langkawi had the most polluted air in the country, with an API reading of 168, according to the Department of Environment (DoE).

The DoE also listed the following locations as having unhealthy air quality: Bakar Arang in Sungai Petani (Kedah) with API readings of 102; Kuala Selangor (136); Port Klang (127); Shah Alam (117); Banting (Selangor) (108); Port Dickson (110); Melaka City and Bukit Rambai (Melaka) (110); Pasir Gudang (127); Larkin Lama (113); Kota Tinggi (101), all in Johor; Universiti Sains Malaysia (110); Seberang Jaya 2, Perai, both in Penang (105); Seri Manjung (122) in Perak, Kangar (111) and Putrajaya (101).

Another 22 locations recorded moderate API readings, including Petaling Jaya (99); Alor Setar (97); SK Jalan Pegoh, Ipoh (96); Nilai, Negeri Sembilan (93) and Batu Muda, Kuala Lumpur (92).
