Haze: 11 areas with unhealthy API readings

After relatively clear skies on Tuesday and most of Wednesday, Kuala Lumpur is once again under a heavy blanket of haze today, and it’s not alone: as of 8am today, the Department of Environment has recorded 11 areas around the country with unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings, up from just three areas just two days ago.

Kuala Selangor clocked in with the highest reading at 155 on the API, followed by Nilai, Negeri Sembilan (143);  Port Klang (137), Banting (134), Putrajaya (124), Bukit Rambai in Malacca (117), Seremban (112), Batu Muda in Kuala Lumpur (112), Petaling Jaya (107), Shah Alam (103) and Sri Aman in Sarawak (101).

API readings of 0 to 50 are considered good; 51 to 100, moderate; 101 to 200, unhealthy; 201 to 300, very unhealthy; and 301 and above, hazardous.
