Happy 10th birthday, Flickr!

While everyone’s celebrating Facebook’s 10th anniversary on with “look back”  videos on their Walls, the OG online photo sharing service also passed its 10-year milestone, to much quieter fanfare.

Despite the dominance of Facebook, Instagram’s ease of mobile use and Google+ steadily wooing serious photographers with its suite of features, Flickr turned 10 yesterday – and is it just us, or does it feel a whole lot older in in netyears than Facebook, or even MySpace? – and it’s put out this cutesy homage to the amazing images that have been uploaded to its servers over the years:

It’s also put up a timeline of the landmark changes to the site’s features and user interface:

In 2014, there are currently arond 2 million Flickr groups – long the online service’s standout feature, before the ubiquity of Facebook Pages and Groups and, to a lesser extent, Google+  circles – sharing more than a million photos a day. And to all the Malaysian photographers who’ve put up their shots of daily life in KL and beyond, this one’s for you:
