Former prime minister, Najib Razak, has taken a swipe at the current Pakatan Harapan government for their attempts to “ground” the senior citizen following the litany of charges that he currently has lauded against him.
Initially, the ruling government had asked a judge to limit Najib’s appearance at functions to only those of a religious nature, as well as muffle any public statements he could make as part of his bail agreement (hello, Facebook/Twitter/Instagram).
Today, the current Pekan MP with 42 charges to his name seemed very pleased with himself when he asked his followers:
“Is it so dangerous for me to play on Facebook?”
Sir, generally speaking — knowing what you know about the 2016 American election, we reckon you know the answer to that one.
He continued that a judge saw fault in the government’s demands, and “Alhamdulillah … rejected the conditions.” As a result, he is now free to spam his wall every hour, on the hour not only explaining and denying slanderous statements lodged against him and Barisan Nasional by the Pakatan government, he can also keep us up to date on his coffee order. Or the fact that he popped into an upscale supermarket to pick up some organic, extra virgin coconut oil.
In all seriousness, the rabid nature that Najib has adapted his persona from detached husband of the Birkin lady, to current man of the people using social media should not be discounted. Where he was once derided, now thousands flock to comment and show support.

His latest post drummed up 14,000 likes, along with comments calling out the PH government for their double-standards regarding freedom of speech on an individual who has to date, not been charged with any crime.
Was his music video of The Manhattan’s Kiss and Say Goodbye painfully embarrassing, complete with a choir that looked like they had the enthusiasm of indentured singer-servants? Yes. Was it highly popular on social media? Also, yes.
One thing is certain, the former PM is not going down without a fight, and as long as we just keep talking about his incessant status updates, no one is going to ask anymore questions about that time he allegedly almost sold Malaysia’s proverbial soul to China to cover the mounting 1MDB debts.
