Well, that escalated quickly.
The two scantily-clad newlyweds – revealed to be professional models – sighted strolling through downtown Ipoh for a bridal photoshoot pleaded guilty to a charge of causing a public nuisance at the Ipoh Magistrate’s Court today.
Low Kah Wai, 27, and How Jo Yee, 21, were charged under Section 268 of the Penal Code and were ordered to pay a fine of RM400 each, or serve a month in jail if they could not pay the fine.
Their lawyer Andrew Soong told The Malaysian Insider that both would pay the fine.
Malaysian social media was abuzz after images of the two posing for a commercial photoshoot in Ipoh’s Jalan Sultan Yussof area began to circulate.
Comparisons were made between this incident and the recent revelation that a “Malaysian Nudist Sports Games” event was held near Teluk Bahang in Penang, this past June. The video depicting highlights of that event also went viral on social networks, prompting a police investigation that resulted in the arrest of of several of the participants.
