Half-naked bride and groom on Ipoh streets become online sensation

It’s always nice when people take notice when you make a major life decision, like getting married, or have a public photoshoot in skimpy underwear, or have a public photoshoot in skimpy underwear to commemorate your wedding and have the images blasted out across the internet.

That’s what happened in the usually uneventful streets of Ipoh yesterday morning as a pair of newlyweds were seen moving about the Jalan Sultan Yussof area having their wedding photos taken in revealing (and matching) get-ups: the groom was topless except for a Chippendales-esque bow tie, and the bride was in virginal white lingerie, high heels, and the bride’s customary veil.

Commuters and passersby couldn’t help but notice, and could help even less with keeping their smartphones in their pockets. Of course, images of the bride and groom started circulating around Malaysian social networks in no time.

The general manager of an Ipoh wedding gallery named Koo has come forward to The Star Online to claim that the photoshoot was done by his firm. He said his photographers were merely  exploring their “creativity in photography” in doing the photoshoot that way, and that he chose downtown Ipoh because the location suited the theme and concept. (“Naked Newlywed Jaywalking”?)

Perak police chief Senior Deputy  Comm Datuk Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said the PDRM hadnot received any reports on the incident, but would still investigate it under Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act.

Let’s hope the lovebirds get their honeymoon out of the way before having to appear in court for this.
