The man who was filmed in a viral video allegedly feeding a toddler a can of stout has been arrested.

The unnamed 19-year-old man was arrested at about 1:30pm yesterday, in Teluk Bahang, Pulau Pinang, after a video that allegedly showed him letting the toddler take several sips of his can of Guinness circulated widely online before it got pulled.

“He was arrested shortly after the police launched an investigation based on a report made,” Balik Pulau district police chief Supt Kamarul Rizal Jenal said yesterday, noting that the man was already under police surveillance for 14 previous criminal offenses.

The 30-second clip that went viral on social media yesterday showed the child sitting on the man’s lap while appearing to be sipping on the alcoholic beverage.

Police were investigating the man under the Child Act and the Communications and Multimedia Act, which carry maximum sentences that include jail time and a fine.
