The magistrate court, on Tuesday, has ordered local rock star and actor Awie to pay a fine for causing hurt to his ex-wife, Rozana Misbun.
The amount?
A paltry RM2,000!!
According to a report by The New Straits Times, the 47-year-old lead vocalist for rock group Wings, who has a long history of domestic violence, pleaded guity to committing the offence at the Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) counter in Kuala Lumpur at on 2 June 2014.
Defence counsel Hazman Harun told magistrate Husna Dzulkifly that the father of five had regretted “nudging Rozana in the forehead”.
(Random thought: is that what people are calling a slap or a punch nowadays?)
“The incident happened when Awie realised that his ex-wife had spent the money that was kept for his children’s education.”
Meanwhile, deputy public prosecutor Ahmad Zikri Jaafar has requested for a deterrent sentence, saying that his action has caused his ex-wife pain, trauma and public humiliation.
“Awie is a well-known personality and he should set a good example to the public,” he said.
