Govt vows to shut down porn website featuring photos of children

The government has vowed to shut down a pornographic website containing photos of children that was brought to light yesterday by local funny man Harith Iskander.

Following Harith’s Facebook post in which he revealed that photos of himself and his son were featured alongside graphic pornographic images, Communication and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek said the site will be shut down, The Rakyat Post reports.

“We will block the website and find its source in order to take further action. We are gathering information at the moment,” he was quoted as saying.

Harith, who made the discovery after a Google Alert, today lodged a police report and insisted that he would not be cowed by the incident.

“Some people are saying, don’t put up pictures of your kids. But I come from a generation where we could run out and play openly on the streets, get into scrapes, and learn from each fall,” he said soon after making a police report at the Taman Tun Dr Ismail police station.

“I’m not going to hide away my children, I trust them, and I know that these things do happen and we can’t run away from it. So it’s better to try and catch these perpetrators, instead of hiding from them.”
