Everyone loves Penang — for its food, history and heritage (it’s really about the food) — and one place in the island state has been picked out as being among the best places to spend your golden years.
Katie Lobosco of CNN Money recently rated George Town as the sixth “best place to retire abroad in 2016”, giving credit to its museums, arts centers, free concerts, jungle parks, beaches and amusement parks.
“It’s extremely affordable. Unless you’re eating in an upscale restaurant, you can eat out for about $3 a person. The area boasts modern public transportation and a first-rate health care system,” Lobosco wrote.
George Town came behind Algarve (Portugal), followed by Cayo (Belize), Medellin (Colombia), Pau (France) and Abruzzo (Italy).
