Malaysian cinephiles and Game of Thrones lovers got the shock of a lifetime when George R. R. Martin, author of the novels on which GoT is based, tweeted a recent photo of himself and Quentin Tarantino enjoying a couple of aperol spritz along the Kuching waterfront.

That’s right, Mr Kill Bill slash Pulp Fiction and the man whose books have been adapted into the biggest television program in recent years were both casually in our backyard, and none of us noticed.
The tweet was dated 25 August, and was captioned:
“Just two guys who love movies. (Still hoping we can check out each other’s theaters one of these days) (@qtarantino) #TBT”
Follow-up tweets from Martin have expressed relief to be home from his trip, and links to his LiveJournal account, that details his travels over the last month.
There’s no mention of Malaysia in the post, but you can’t hide the Riverbank Suites condos, nor Khatulistiwa (aka The White Barouk) in the background. We know you were here, guys.
Eagerly awaiting a line, or two, about how much you love Malaysia, Mr Martin. No pressure.
