‘Geng Tong Gas’ is a funny name – laugh while they rob your house

A crew of house robbers dubbed ‘Geng Tong Gas’ (“the Gas Tank Gang”) might be the main characters of the latest madcap comedy in local cinemas, or it could be a bunch of people who are really determined to break into your house IRL. Hint: they’re not in a movie.

Kajang police have christened the break-in artists with the evocative name due to their modus operandi: at 6am on Saturday morning, a luxury residence at the Bangi Golf Resort was broken into with the suspects ramming a canister of cooking gas on the back door, cracking the lock open.

During the incident, the Gas Tankers also subdued and tied up the maid before proceeding upstairs to the valuable-laden bedrooms.

One of the home’s owners, a 23-year old who identified herself to Harian Metro only as Mia, said she and the other occupants heard a crashing noise from the ground floor and the subsequent sound of an indoor room being barged into.

The robbers gained access to her younger sibling’s room after repeatedly smashing a gas canister on the door handle.

Mia and the other occupants ran to the front balcony of the house and yelled out into the street for help.
