This incident proves that nowhere is safe, even in your own home.
A 17-year-old girl was injured when a billboard fell on her house in Kampung Pelegong, Labu.
The New Straits Times reports that the incident happened at around 1.30pm on Tuesday.
According to the daily, Nur Dayana, the eldest of five children, was reportedly sleeping in her room when the 28-metre high billboard collapsed on the house, after the iron bars supporting it suddenly gave way.
As a result, Nur Dayana suffered injuries to her leg and body after broken pieces from the billboard hit her.
The girl’s father, Maulud Wahid, 40, told the daily that Nur Dayana was with her sister, Nur Liayana Afira, at the time.
Nur Liayna was unhurt in the freak incident.
“I wasn’t home at the time and received a call from my wife, informing me about the incident. I rushed home to check on my daughters’ conditions,” he was quoted as saying.
Maulud added that the family is currently staying at a hotel provided by the billboard company as the billboard caused substantial damage to the kitchen and other parts of the house.
