Fugitive ‘sex blogger’ Alvin Tan back with new FB profile…and a new life?

Alvin Tan of ‘Alvivi’ fame, remember him? Of course, you do. He’s the fugitive sex blogger.

The guy who caused a sensation in the viral scene two years ago with his sex blog – along with girlfriend Vivian Lee – is now reportedly in the United States ‘seeking political asylum’.

Tan, 26 and Lee, 25, were both charged with posting an offensive Ramadan greeting and uploading pornographic photos onto their now defunct blog.

Alvin jumped bail and disappeared completely before showing up on Facebook with a brand new account recently, claiming to be in California.

His profile photo showed him naked with his private parts covered with a heart-shaped drawing.

According to Channel News Asia, the sex blogger feels confident that he will be granted asylum in the US.

And what if he isn’t?

“If all else fails, I can easily publish more ‘seditious’ materials on my Facebook to taunt the authorities and get them to be hot on the pursuit of me again, therefore creating an even more well-founded fear of political persecution to bolster my asylum claim,” CNA quoted Tan as saying via a Facebook message.

He had more to say about his reasons for seeking ‘political refuge’.

“I’m busy starting a new life here (in the US), apart from awaiting my final asylum hearing. I’m here to seek political refuge from the tyranny of UMNO – simple as that.”

Simple as that? Not quite, though as far as the law is concerned.

The on-off couple, whose relationship has reportedly been in turmoil recently, were charged under the Sedition Act for posting a Ramadan ‘greeting’ last year with these accompanying words: ‘Selamat Berbuka Puasa (dengan bak kut teh… wangi, enak, menyelerakan.’

Tan jumped bail and went missing after failing to surrender his passport although his lawyer claimed that Tan and Lee were in Singapore to shoot a documentary.

Tan, however, was not in Singapore and Interpol’s assistance was sought to bring Tan back to face charges.
