Free World Cup screening: Malaysians will be able to watch on RTM

It’s official – national terrestrial television network RTM, that ever so popular channel you’re forced to watch in sundry government buildings while waiting for bureaucracy to happen will screen this year’s 2018 FIFA World Cup free.

Communications and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh Deo made the announcement today following a cabinet meeting, and confirmed then will be aired live over TV1.

Previously, Malaysians would have to be cable subscribers, and purchase a specific package that showcased the World Cup matches, as they were not available on terrestrial television, or find a dodgy link online to stream, where one would suffer though more buffering than match.

Great news, but you will still find us this World Cup down at the local pub watching, cheering, lamenting as we try to flex our pitch knowledge enough to get a side of fries on the house.
