Four-year old boy dies after being trapped in father’s car for eight hours

A four-year old boy died after he was found unconscious in his father’s car, parked in the parking lot of the Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Kuala Nerang in Kedah, yesterday. 

The boy, Muhammad Aqil Arfan Adnan, was believed to have been trapped in his father’s Perodua Viva for more than eight hours. The victim’s father, Adnan Salleh, is a religious teacher at the school, and found Muhammad Aqil at 4pm after finishing work. 

Bernama reports the boy was taken to the Kuala Nerang Hospital after he was discovered, where he was declared dead. 

A relative of the boy’s family, 45-year old Soaid Adam, said Adnan, his wife Asiah Abu, a teacher at SMK Dato Syed Ahmad in Kuala Nerang, and Muhammad Aqil would usually leave their home in Kampung Padang Durian, Pendang at around 6.45am.

Kedah police’s CID head ACP Nashir Ya said the cause of the incident has not yet been determined, and that the case was being investigated under Section 304 of the Penal Code.
