Four people, including two-year-old boy, shot dead while they were asleep

In yet another case of gun violence (and we have heard of way too many in recent weeks), a man reportedly gunned down three members of his family, and another man in Penang early this morning.

The Star Online reports that the suspected killer — a 32-year-old man said to be on drugs — shot his victims to death while they were asleep in their container home located in a chicken processing factory in Batu Maung near Balik Pulau early today.

Police were reportedly informed of the brutal slaying at 2.55am.

According to the news site, the dead were identified as the suspect’s mother, Tan Saw Sim, 55, the his brother Chung Wah Thong, in his 20s, and two-year-old nephew, known as Ah Bee.

The fourth victim was identified as a partner/operator of the factory, Toh Hock Choon, 50.

Penang CID chief Datuk Razaruddin Husain was quoted as saying that early investigations showed that the man may have flown into a mad rage when he failed to get money to buy drugs.

According to The Star, the suspect escaped in a Toyota Hilux belonging to the operator with the registration number  PLJ 7392.

Free Malaysia Today meanwhile quoted Razarudin as saying that Toh and Tan were living together.

“The employee told us that Toh and Tan had not been legally married but were living together while Chung was Toh’s son and Ah Bee was Chung’s child.”
