Four drown after boat capsizes near Kota Tinggi

Three women and a man, believed to be Indonesian nationals reportedly drowned at Pantai Batu Layar, Kota Tinggi after their boat sank last night.

Bernama reports that 33 others — including eight women — survived. 

Bandar Penawar Fire and Rescue Station Operations Commander Azlan Mohd Sobri was quoted as saying that authorities received a distress call at 11pm yesterday. A search and rescue operation was then launched. 

Tanjung Sedili Maritime District Director, Maritime Captain Amran Daud told Bernama that the boat was believed to have tried entering Malaysia.
