After horrifying images of two emaciated children with visible marks of what appear to be abuse marks on their bodies went viral, police can now confirm that their foster parents have been arrested. The two siblings have been taken into protective custody.
Investigators made the arrest Saturday, after a tip-off from the public lead them to an apartment unit in Pusat Bandar Puchong. A man, his wife, and their teenage daughter have all been placed in police custody. A baton, spoon, and rubber hose were also taken in as evidence, as officers believe they were used to abuse the victims.
The eight-year-old boy and his seven-year-old sister were captured on video by concerned netizens looking gaunt, starved, and bruised. Officers working on the case have learned that the two were abandoned by their biological parents following their divorce, and had been living with the suspects for the better part of seven years.
Both brother and sister are now at Serdang Hospital undergoing examinations, while the suspects will remain in police custody for five days.
