A frightening report from the Harian Metro this morning details the abuses allegedly endured by a 6-year-old girl who was entrusted into the care of a foster mother for 8 months.
The child’s mother, Umi Hamzah, was shocked when she came to take her daughter home to find the child covered in bruises, with multiple scars, and with her head shaved bald. She told police that her child told her she had been caned, scalded with hot water, and had sambal spread over her private areas by the relative who was meant to foster her.
The young girl told her mother that she had been forced to sleep in a storeroom, and eat feces as a punishment for making mistakes.
When she asked the foster mother to explain the injuries, she woman told her that she “was mischievous and fell.
The mother told reporters that “I could not believe she could treat my child like an animal.” The understatement of the year. Last time I checked, anyone pouring scalding water on a cat was considered a psychopath.
A report has been filed at Jaya Gading police station, and the case is being investigated under the Child Act 2001.
