Former KL CID Chief declared his assets 22 times

Former Kuala Lumpur CID chief Datuk Ku Chin Wah, who recently made headlines for owning 10 properties on a RM12,000 monthly salary, had declared his assets only 22 times during his 35 years of service with the police force, according to Bukit Aman’s database.

The Star reports that the assets declared by Ku throughout the years totalled RM3.19mil, and was last updated in the police’s database on 3 February.

Among the assets declared were a terrace house in Monterez Golf and Country Resort in Selangor and three apartments in Kuala Lumpur area worth RM1.324mil, a shoplot in Rawang worth RM60,000 and another shoplot in Malacca valued at RM250,000, owned by his wife.

Other assets included were a RM142,413 Peugeot 308, shares valued at RM960,340 and savings in two bank accounts totalling RM361,553.

Ku, whose basic salary was RM10,232.81 with allowances totalling RM2,200 at that time, was recently charged under the Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorism Financing Act 2001 for failing to declare his acceptance of a “commission” amounting to RM961,500 in a sworn statement dated 8 January 2014.
