Former deputy minister, addled with dementia, goes missing for 8 hours

Retired federal deputy minister Abdullah Fadzil Che Wan raised alarms yesterday when he was reported missing … but was found eight hours later, six kilometres from where he was last seen.

The former deputy minister of defence and foreign affairs, who suffers from dementia, disappeared from Bukit Tunku at 11am yesterday, prompting his son Zadey to post a call to action on Facebook, alerting anyone who might have seen Abdullah.

“My father Abdullah Fadzil Che Wan, aged 70 years old , height 160cm and 65kg weight went missing at Bukit Tunku today. He has Dementia. If you have seen him or know his whereabouts please call 0123359001 / 0163085773 / 0123013773 / 0193860085. Thank you,” the Facebook posting read.

Zadey also detailed what his father was wearing at the time of his disappearance – a black shirt and blue pants.

Abdullah was found at 7.45pm in a condominium complex in Jalan Sultan Ismail, some six kilometres from Bukit Tunku.

“It was a random complex, he just walked into it. He is in good condition,” said Sentul police chief ACP R Munusamy, as reported by The Star Online
