Former bank officer sentenced to 6 years prison for stealing money from MH370 victims’ accounts

A former bank officer has been sentenced to six years in prison for illegally withdrawing funds from the accounts of four victims of the tragic Malaysia Airlines MH370 disappearance. 

Berita Harian‘s Maria Uffa Zulkafeli reports that Nur Shila Kanan, 34, pleaded guilty to 12 counts under Sections 379, 471, and 417 of the Penal Code, including stealing from the bank accounts of three passengers and one crew member who were on board the jetliner which disappeared on March 8 last year.

The sentenced was read by judge Norsharidah Awang of the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court.

Shila’s prison sentence follows the four-year jaiol term handed down yesterday to her husband, Basheer Ahmad Maula Hameed, who was found guilty of skimming RM7,650 from the account of another passenger on board Flight MH370.
