Forest fire kills 6-meter long python

The Pasir Puteh Fire and Rescue Department got a huge shock when they found the carcass of a six-meter long reticulated python after putting out a forest fire.

Bernama reports that the department’s chief, ASP Azhar Elmi Mustofar, believed the giant snake with a diameter of around 0.3 metres was trapped and unable to escape when the fire broke out near the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) camp in Gong Kedak on Wednesday.

“The discovery of the python shocked the public, as well as firemen who were trying to keep the fire from spreading,” Azhar Elmi told Bernama.

He also added that the fire, which took almost seven hours to put out, was believed to have been caused by open burning and affected about 20 hectares of forest area.
