Fancy getting your fix of fiction from two international bestselling authors – in Bahasa Malaysia?
Local publishing house and experts at tapping into the Malaysian zeitgeist BukuFixi have started a new imprint, Fixi Verso, which aims to published works by established authors from across the globe in Bahasa Malaysia. The first two books to be put out by the imprint are Stephen King’s Joyland and Neil Gaiman’s The Ocean At the End of the Lane, whose title has been translated into Lautan Di Hujung Lorong.
BukuFixi founder and literary authority in his own right, Amir Muhammad, posted this on his Facebook last night concerning the decision to publish King’s novel in BM:
“An Italian journalist asked me last week why I am taking this risk. Well, because I have been reading Stephen King since I was a teenager. He has now written over 50 books and, amazingly enough, this is the first to ever be translated into Malay. Yes the rights & translation make it more expensive to publish compared to our other books but, come on, I am now not just a Stephen King FAN but a Stephen King PUBLISHER.”
Seems like Amir’s crossing that off his personal bucket list is a win for everyone. Joyland and Lautan Di Hujung Lorong are now available for purchase on BukuFixi’s online store for RM21.20 each.
