A family’s Facebook post regarding spilled tom yam soup has gone viral, with gruesome images of the scalding images sustained by their 5-year-old daughter.
The incident occurred in Balok, Kelantan and the restaurant manager, Mohd Zanafi Wahab, has now been forced to issue a statement.
Speaking to Berita Harian, he asked that the incident be resolved without any more public quarreling or confusion. He added that it was “unintentional,” and that had not witnessed the incident, as he was busy with other customers. He was only made aware when the family hurriedly left the establishment.
A witness at the restaurant reported that the spill occurred when the child grabbed the waiter’s arm.
Zanafi is accused by the family of throwing money at them as they left to seek medical assistance. However, he maintains that he was just trying to give assistance to the family.
The manager now says that he intends to meet with the family personally to discuss the matter to discuss the matter amicably.
Nothing like the burn of social media to elicit action and apologies.
