Get your prepaid toll cards ready because come Sept 9, five highways are about to go cashless.
Bernama reports that toll plazas at the Penang Bridge, Jitra, Bukit Kayu Hitam (North-South Expressway), Lunas and Kubang Semang (Butterworth-Kulim Expressway) will be fully electronic by then — accepting only payments made using PLUSMiles and Touch ‘n Go cards or SmartTAG.
“To facilitate easier purchase and reload of PLUSMiles and Touch ‘n Go cards, highway users will also be able to purchase preloaded RM5 PLUSMiles and Touch ‘n Go cards at a promotional rate of RM5 (card is free) at these toll plazas beginning now until 31 December 2015,” PLUS chief operating officer Mohammad Fuad Khusairi was quoted as saying in statement.
Promotional rates for the SmartTAG — RM96 — will be available at all five plazas until Sept 30. and all Class 1 vehicles that use the electronic payment system from Sept 1 until Dec 31 at the Jitra, Bukit Kayu Hitam, Lunas and Kubang Semang toll plazas will enjoy a 20 percent discount.
