Sarawak villagers were shocked to discover a massive “Anaconda Sarawak,” a type of python, near their settlement in Sungai Kelawit, Bintulu while out hunting Saturday afternoon.
The giant female serpent weighed in at over 100kg, and measured over five meters.
A group of locals were out hunting in the nearby jungle when they heard suspicious noises emanating from below. Spotting a wooden hole, the peaked inside to find the massive python mating with a much smaller male serpent.
Villager Tinsung Ujang could not believe his luck: Not only was spotting such large serpents, in coitus, was quite the rarity, but the reptiles are considered a culinary delight in the community.
Tinsung subsequently shot the snakes several times, before asking other locals to help him move them to a nearby four-wheel drive vehicle.
Photos of the haul made their way onto social media, where they have been viewed and shared thousands of times
Five meters of snake will keep the entire community sated, with the meat being divided and shared equally to villagers, as well as nearby farm workers, according to Tinsung.
Wondering how to cook python? So are we!! Apparently, they can double in for bacon bits in a pinch, and if you’re wondering how to braise that reptilian baby, treat it like you would some ribs: low and slow is the way to go. And when in doubt, just deep fry it til golden brown, and hit it with some spice. Coconuts KL suspects sri racha mayo would be delightful.
