Firemen rescue teen who suffered severe cramps while hiking

A teenager had to endure hours of pain when he suffered severe camps while descending Gunung Angsi in Kuala Pilah on Sunday morning.

According to The New Straits Times, it was learnt that the teenager, Muhd Amirul Shoed, started his journey to the peak of Gunung Angsi with 50 other climbers from the Belia Simpang Pertang club at 7.30am.

After enjoying the view at the top, the group started their descent from the mountain at about 11.30am when Muhd Amirul’s left leg suffered severe cramps.

His friends had initially taken turns carrying the 23-year-old down the mountain but they were later forced to make an emergency call after running out of strength.

Kuala Pilah Fire and Rescue Department operation chief Ariffin Isa told NST that they deployed a fire engine with five firemen to the scene after receiving the distress call at 2.17pm.

“We managed to locate the victim at 2.42pm. We then carried down the victim and arrived at the foot of the mountain after 30 minutes,” he was quoted as saying.

Ariffin added that the teenager was sent to the Terachi clinic for treatment.
