Fire in Port Klang after two container ships collide

Two container vessels smashed into each other in Port Klang yesterday causing a fire.

According to the New Straits Times, both ships collided at 7.38pm. Firemen from three zones – Port Klang, Kota Raja and Andalas – rushed to the scene.

The daily quoted a source from the Fire and Rescue Department as saying that one of the ships had been taken out to sea about a kilometre from the pier while the other ship, reportedly from the Philippines, was still at the pier. 

There were no casualties reported. 

Meawhile, Bernama reports that efforts to put out the fire continued as of 10pm.
