Fire breaks out on two floors at Bukit Aman

UPDATE: Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar has tweeted that the fire on the 10th floor of the Bukit Aman building was limited to the hallway corridor, and that only “unimportant documents” were destroyed in the blaze:

Office facilities on the 10th floor, which belongs to the JSJ (Crime Investigation Department) were undamaged in the fire. 

 

A fire broke out at the Federal police headquarters in Bukit Aman, Kuala Lumpur this evening.

The Star Online reports that the fire had started on levels 9 and 10 of Menara 2 around 5.20pm, where the Criminal Investigation and Narcotics departments are located.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar confirmed the incident via Twitter, stating that the fire has been brought under control and that no one was injured in the incident.

“The cause (of the fire) is being investigated,” he said.
