Putrajaya intends to introduce amendments to existing laws to help it curb Internet abuse, especially on social media networks, by early next year.
According to The Malay Mail Online, Communications and Multimedia Minister Ahmad Shabery Cheek said in Parliament today that his ministry has outlined “strategic steps” to enforce and update the existing Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 and the Communications and Multimedia Commission Act 1998 in order to better facilitate enforcement of online abuse.
The amendments to these laws might be tabled in Parliament as early as October, or by early next year at the latest.
