By June next year, city folk would be able to enjoy faster train service between Kuala Lumpur and Butterworth, Penang.
The new Electric Train Service (ETS) linking both cities can travel up to 160kph – from its current 140kph speed – and can take up to 350 people with the inclusion of 10 new coaches by January 2016, The Star Online’s Patrick Lee reports.
Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad’s (KTMB) chairman Datuk Nawawi Ahmad told the daily that the rail service is part of the bigger plan to link KL and Padang Besar through the electrified double-tracking project.
According to the report, China’s CSR Zhuzhou will build the coach sets, with three of them beginning the run in June.
