A farmer had been fined RM2,500 (US$610), in lieu of three months’ jail, after flashing his private parts to a female student last week.
Forty-eight-year-old V. Devadasan plead guilty to the indecent gesture which the court ruled was intended to insult the modesty of the unnamed 18-year-old student. The incident occurred in the Taman Maluri area of Kuala Lumpur, at 11:00pm on Nov. 21.
The charge carried the potential of five years imprisonment, a fine, or both, upon conviction.
In his defense, the suspect claimed that he simply needed to urinate, and having no toilet available, was forced to do so publicly. He claimed that in the darkness, he did not see the girl standing nearby.
