What was supposed to be a happy trip to Tasik Dayang Bunting, Pulau Langkawi for a family from Saudi Arabia quickly turned tragic when a family member drowned in a lake.
Langkawi Fire and Rescue Department chief Supt Yaakob Hassan told The Star Online that the family of 12 were having fun on the platform when Alahmadi Hussain Fuada, 19, reportedly slipped and fell into the lake at 5.30pm on Thursday.
“We received a distress call and rushed to the scene with eight firemen and five divers to carry out a search and rescue operation.
“The youth’s body was recovered at a depth of 30m at 7.15pm,” Supt Yaakob was quoted as saying, adding that the body was sent to the Langkawi Hospital for post-mortem.
