Family of four from Kuantan has been calling a futsal hall their home for the past year

This is a truly heartbreaking story.

A family of four from Kuantan has been staying in a futsal hall for almost a year because they couldn’t afford to pay rent.

According to a report by Harian Metro, as translated by The Star Online, 49-year-old Umar Abdullah, his 30-year-old wife Aminah Abdullah and their two children, aged three and six, have been staying in the hall located at Taman Polo since last year.

Umar told the daily that he couldn’t earn enough as a masseur to pay the RM400 monthly rent for their former flat in Taman Tas and support his family at the same time.

Aminah added that they tried looking for a cheaper place, but to no avail.

“My husband tried to find another place but the rent in Kuantan is high.

“We are lucky that the manager of this hall allowed us to sleep here,” she was quoted as saying.

Sometimes, Aminah added, Good Samaritans would donate essential items to them.
