Dutch media are reporting that the family of dead teen model Ivana Smit are now offering the public a RM200,000 (US$50,000) reward for information that that leads to an arrest and conviction in the case.

Smit passed away last December under circumstances that are unclear, plummeting 14 stories to her death off of the balcony of an expat couple that she had previously been drinking with.

The couple, Alex Johnson and his wife Luna, claim that neither were present in the room when Ivana inexplicably went to the balcony and climbed over, landing on the terrace of a sixth-floor unit.

Unwilling to accept the police ruling of “sudden death,” her family have spent the last few months in anguish while looking for concrete answers as to why the 19-year-old would have fallen from the condo.

A family spokesperson has said that if more than one source came forward, the reward would then be divided equally among those who have come forward with credible information. They added that the reward would stand until a conviction in the case is made.

After struggling to get answers when the tragedy occurred, Ivana’s family in Holland say that police only shared a skimmed version of their post-mortem conclusions, and did not release the teen’s body for 21 days.

When she was finally repatriated, a second autopsy was conducted with sensational conclusions: Dutch pathologist Dr Frank van der Goot claims that the model had bruises on her arm that were likely inflicted before she fell, saying that a struggle prior may have ensued.

Since Ivana’s tragic death, the couple at the center of it have remained largely quiet, and out of the public eye, save for an exclusive interview conducted with the Daily Mail Sunday edition (stay classy), where they told reporters that there had been a previous sexual relations between the couple and Smit.
