A family of three were taking a leisurely drive through Sungai Buloh when they were stopped by police and arrested. Allegedly, the car they were joyriding in was reported stolen.
Sungai Buloh district police chief Supt Abdul Aziz Awang told mStar that the three individuals, including a 63-year old senior citizen, were apprehended outside their home in Taman Sri Putra, Kuang after a poloce patrol identified the car as having been stolen.
“Investigations found that the Toyota Vios they were in held a license plate registered to another vehicle,” he said.
“The car itself was reported stolen last December. One suspect, aged 22, alleged that the car was the property of her husband, who was also arrested.”
All three family members are to be charged under Section 457 of the Penal Code, which could land them not more than five years in prison and a fine upon conviction, and under Section 397(!) of the Penal Code which carries a minimum of one year in prison, a maximum of seven years, and a fine.
The suspects were transferred to the Shah Alam police headquarters for processing.
