Expect strong winds, rough seas in Selangor and east coast

If you’re heading to the beach this weekend, please be extra careful.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department has warned of strong winds and rough seas over the weekend.

In a statement cited by Bernama, the Met Department said strong Southwesterly winds of 40-50 kmph with waves rising up to 3.5 metres can be expected over the waters off Phuket, Reef North and Palawan from Friday until Monday.

As such, it is highly advisable to avoid recreational sea activities and sea sports, the Met Department said.

Meanwhile, thunderstorms occurring over the waters off Strait of Malacca, Selangor, Terengganu, Kelantan and Pahang is expected to continue until early Friday morning.

The Met Department told the news agency that the thunderstorms may cause strong winds up to 50 kph and rough seas with waves rising up to 3.5 metres.
