The government has decided to cut electricity tariff tom March 1 until the end of June.
Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Datuk Seri Maximus Ongkili announced the move to reduce electricity tariff with the imbalance cost pass through (ICPT) of 2.25 sen/kWh for consumers in Peninsular Malaysia, Bernama reports.
The ICPT allows Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) to either increase or decrease electricity tariff based on the uncontrollable fuel costs.
Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) has also announced that tariffs will do down by 3.5 per cent to 1.2 sen/kWh for Sabah and Labuan.
According to Maximus, this basically means that you can expect to save RM13.50 to RM45 in your monthly bills. “Domestic consumers using below 300kWh of electricity a month are not affected by the decision,” he was quoted as saying.
