A worrying story from Harian Metro of an elderly widow who inadvertently rendered herself blind after mistakenly using ear drops as eye drops has tugged heartstrings today.
Seventy-year-old Sabiah Rabion from Johor Bahru damaged the nerves of her eyes six years ago in the accident, though the case only just came to light after Sabiah applied for financial assistance from Majilis Agama Islam Johor (MAIJ). It is unclear how many times she used the wrong drops.

The septuagenarian told MAIJ that her day to day life has been incredibly difficult over the last half-decade, with cooking and cleaning being nearly impossible.
Still, when her only son has offered to take his disabled mother in, Sabiah has refused, not wanting to burden his family anymore. She has been receiving assistant from her brother and neighbors, who regularly check in on her to see if she is doing well or needs anything.
Sabiah and her family remain positive that her sight could one day be restored, and have taken her to specialists in hopes of a solution, so that she can play with her grandkids again.
Yeesh. We hope you find a solution, Sabiah. And for the rest of us… read the labels. Always read the labels.
