Google Glass? Meh. The Apple Watch? Overpriced. What you really need is a smart mattress that will encourage you and your significant other to make out more often.
That’s what Dunlopillo is banking on, with the launch of the Respark, a new mattress loaded with sensors designed to measure how much nocturnal, uh, activity takes place under the covers every night.
“If sleep is the only thing that happens for the past few days, well guess what? The mattress will actually talk to the couple,” says a genial-looking Dunlopillo rep in the promotional video.
Nope. Not creepy at all.
If there hasn’t been anything going on between the couple sleeping on the Respark for a few consecutive nights, the mattress will send out helpful suggestions to, you know, respark the romance in the relationship: a nice restaurant for a candlelit dinner, maybe a rom-com playing at the local cineplex, a new vibrator on sale at Lazada.com, all sent to the companion app on the couple’s smartphones.
(Arguing over who pays for the mail-order vibrator is, we assume, part of the process. Because hey, makeup sex!)
The Respark mattress isn’t yet available for purchase, but Dunlopillo is opening up the beta testing programme for three lucky (and non-tech averse) couples. All you need to do is register for the selection process at ListenToYourMattress.com.
We don’t see how this could hurt your relationship, so why not? It sure as hell beats having sex on the balcony.
